Rick, sounds like you are at a definite crossroads of your life. Odd how we reach a pinnacle so late in life. I just turned 50 and am now trying to face this dreadful issue so I can deal with it and it not get worse like it seems it wants to. Are you on yahoo under the same name?

I don't see daily activity on this site. Are there others out there that could use daily support, like I need? I want to find others that are challenged, like me. Like a pen pal, where we can draw strength from each other, laugh at the outrageousness of situations, offer encouragement to get thru those times that are stressful, share remedies, thoughts and just support in general. Just knowing we aren't alone has to be powerful. I now know you are out there, become part of my support. Mitch9911@yahoo.com

my 14 year old son has always had a lot of anxiety when facing school especially situations where he has to be the focus of attention in any way(outside of school as well) I just thought it was part of his personality and forced him to do things he didnt want to...this resulted in at least 100 visits each year to the school nurse with headaches and stomach aches through out the years....last year out of frustration I pulled him out of school and homeschooled which ended up in disaster as I have found i do not have the discipline or the time(i work full time as well) to do it properlly. He felt ready this year to head back to school (8th grade) the first 2 days he came home and sobbed telling me how difficult it was....so today is the 2nd out of 4 days of school that he has missed so I call the school counselor and she is ignorant and tells me its common for kids to feel this way and that they will call a truant officer out on me and my son if he doesnt come back to school...I have made an appointment with his pediatrition to get some direction perhaps medication and therapy for my son since I now have come to terms with the fact that this is very real to him(this is after reading a 5 page letter he slipped under my bedroom door about what he feels when he is faced with social situations...he even researched this and came up with his own idea of what he had)......I was pissed when I found out how many people dont think what he feels is real and people keep telling me that I am not doing the right thing that I should just punish him and force him back to school....but they dont see his pain like I do....and help for this kind of problem seems so much harder to obtain than if he was just crazy like a loon or suicidal........he told me yesterday after I had made numerous calls trying to find someone to help him...much frustration involved...that he would lie and say he was suicial to get help because most of the people I called told me there was a waiting list of up to 1 month to get in unless he was suicidal or a threat to society.....how sad is that....I told him there was no way I would let him lie just to get the help he needed and if the school board wants to give me a ticket...or whatever for not sending him to school until I get him the help he need.......so be it.....any advice from anyone out there that has dealt with this would be appreciated please email me personally my email sandrabrackeen@yahoo.com

from a mom that is no longer in denial

BuSpar (buspirone) for Anxiety: For acute anxiety this is AMAZING. Rapid racing heartbeat. Excessive sweating. Constant worrying. Over-analyzing. This medicine basically at 15MG gives you a feeling like you just drank a six pack and ate an amazing meal. I take it with xanax and cymbalta. Buspar is the best non habit forming short term medicine to get your life back on track when life gets overwhelming.
